After 26 and a half years, I have decided to become vegetarian. I’ve made no announcement or big deal out of it, just stopped eating meat.
I love meat but after reading about how animals are treated before they are slaughtered, I decided to make the change. It hasn’t made that much of a difference to me, I’m actually surprised by how much I don’t miss meat. What I am surprised at it the complete bullshit I’ve been dealt by meat eaters. Vegans/vegetarians are always made out to be the hardcore preachers but its the meat eaters who seem to go on a huge crusade to belittle vegetarians.
I’ve been told that ‘God’ put animals on the planet to be eaten (by someone who isn’t even religious) and that I’m ignorant for not eating meat when there are starving kids in the world. Please note: starving children are not valid arguments in every discussion/difference of opinion.
All I’ve done is made the PERSONAL CHOICE to stop eating meat. To me, this is no different than not eating tomatoes or watermelon, and people don’t make an issue out of that.
You don’t need to apologise for mentioning the rad beef burger you ate last night or for telling me that you’re dying for fish and chips. I don’t care about the food choices you make. I’m not suddenly offended by seeing others eat meat. It’s my choice, my opinion, my diet.
If you have an opinion on what food I eat or don’t eat, keep it to your fucking self. I’m not doing you any harm.
